The demand for aged care extends beyond metropolitan areas into the regions. Afterall, everyone grows old regardless of where they live.
Providing training facilities for health professions and aged care workers in regional areas makes sense. Up-skilling local people in a sustainable career that benefits local residents.
UniSA, in collaboration with aged care provider Matthew Flinders Home, is providing a dedicated nursing and allied health training facility in Port Lincoln. Financial support is coming from the Commonwealth Department of Health (the Rural Health Multi-Disciplinary Training Program).
Grieve Gillett Andersen architects and URPS negotiated a clever proposal that took advantage of the proximity of the new training facility to the existing Matthew Flinders Home. The Eyre Peninsula Regional Assessment Panel agreed and issued Planning Consent.
We look forward to more great partnerships between education and service providers, particularly in our regional areas.
