Park 16 (Pakapakanthi) Wetlands

Construction Engagement is a walk in the Park Lands.
Park 16

This project saw the creation of a new wetland in the southern section of Victoria Park/Pakapakanthi (Park 16) to manage flooding from Park Lands Creek and in downstream neighbourhoods.  It also improved water quality, enhanced biodiversity and created greater amenity for park users.

URPS worked alongside Procure PM’s project managers while designs were finalised and construction began to mobilise.  We engaged with park users, Councils, lease holders, casual users, nearby residents and business owners to make sure that people knew what was happening and how it would impact them.

A community open day was one of the keys to success. This created a great chance to catch locals/park users and explain why this special part of the Adelaide Park Lands was going to be impacted for a short time.  Feedback was extremely positive showing that, once again, proactive engagement is an effective tool for managing impacts on stakeholders, as well as the reputations of the organisations involved.
