The oxygen plant will assist in reducing overall carbon emissions from the operations at the site. This will allow one furnace at the site to be oxy-fuel fired replacing the air-fuel firing currently used in that furnace. The funding of this project has been boosted by a Commonwealth Grant of $12.5m under the Modern Manufacturing Initiative – Manufacturing Translation Stream, Recycling and Clean Energy program, to accelerate development and commercialisation of low emissions technologies.
