“Bio-region” means “life-place” – an area defined by its plants, animals, water features and catchments rather than political boundaries.
Thinking about the environment in terms of bioregions is important because dolphins don’t stop swimming, birds don’t stop flying and plants don’t stop growing once they reach council boundaries.
URPS is working with the living environment team at the City of Port Adelaide Enfield to develop a new Biodiversity Strategic Management Plan. This Plan takes a bioregional approach.
Wildlife corridors, watercourses and coastal dunes are great examples of where the City of Port Adelaide Enfield plans to work together with neighbouring Councils and other partners to progress shared biodiversity goals.
Stay tuned for updates on this exciting Plan for biodiversity protection and restoration through genuine collaboration.
