South Australia’s Mitolo Group has invested $50 million in a significant expansion of its processing, packing, distribution and administration headquarters. The expansion of the Group’s Virginia facility has been declared a “major development” by the SA Minister for Planning. URPS is excited to have managed the planning process for this world class production facility.
The site previously processed 150,000 tonnes of potatoes and 40,000 tonnes of onions a year. The new 12,000 square metre facility will boost annual productivity by around 30% to 200,000 tonnes of potatoes and 55,000 tonnes of onions.
The new facility includes automated stock control and warehousing, a closed-loop water filtration system and a fully integrated enterprise resource planning system. “We will create something that will be of the highest international standard, with best in breed technology and productivity,” said Mitolo Group Managing Director Frank Mitolo.
