Supported Accommodation, Mount Barker & Toorak Gardens

Engagement smoothed the development approval process for aged care accommodation.

While their residents might be quiet, aged care facilities within established residential areas can cause impacts associated with staff, visitors and delivery vehicles. The scale of buildings can also impact on neighbours.

Both projects utilised the skills of URPS’ engagement team to inform neighbours and address their concerns. Delivered during the height of the pandemic, URPS ran a telephone hot-line and distributed an information pamphlet with FAQs to over 100 surrounding residents.

URPS’ value-add was the reduction of written representations. Significantly, half of these were supportive of the projects.
