The Road Corridor Planning Studies marked a shift toward proactive thinking, with URPS supporting the Department for Infrastructure and Transport and technical consultant teams to explore future possibilities through early engagement.
Recognising the challenges of engaging communities on long-term, unfunded projects, URPS developed an online survey using Social Pinpoint’s interactive mapping tool. This approach allowed people who use the corridor to share their experiences, pinpoint issues, and contribute to shaping future priorities.
Drawing on deep experience with the client’s digital engagement platforms, surveys and templates, the team ensured the process was accessible and meaningful. The spatial data collected helped technical teams visualise transport hot spots and align community insights with emerging investigations, grounding strategy in lived experience.
Along with the preparation of Social Impact Statements for the potential upgrade of each corridor, URPS insights unlocked the aspirations and impacts for community.
