Growth Areas Engineering Standards Industry Engagement

Facilitating Change in Residential Development.
Growth Areas

The Department for Housing and Urban Development set out to do something big: introduce new engineering standards to guide residential development in growth areas across South Australia.

They knew it wouldn’t be simple. These standards represented a major shift from the status quo and strong stakeholder opinions were guaranteed. That’s where URPS came in.

We brought together, councils, developers and engineers, and created space for real conversations. Through a series of facilitated workshops, we encouraged stakeholders to share their views, challenge assumptions, and explore how change could work for everyone.

Our independent role helped level the playing field. Even the most cautious voices felt safe to speak up, knowing their input would be heard and respected.

The outcome enabled a shared understanding, stronger buy-in, and a path forward for standards that support smarter and more streamlined residential growth.
