Alex Mackenzie

Renowned for his versatility and experience, Alex is a cross-sector advisor who manages the delivery of important projects at URPS.

Alex has held several senior roles in State and Local Government.  He played an important part in delivering many elements of South Australia’s much envied new planning system.  These include the pre-lodgement and case management process for high-value development in the Adelaide CBD, South Australia’s first suite of State Planning Policies, the Accredited Professionals Scheme and the Planning & Design Code.

He has led large teams in strategy & policy, development assessment and compliance over many years.  This has seen him deliver key projects such as rezonings for new growth precincts and limiting undesirable development in important character areas.  He was also instrumental in making cultural change so that planning initiatives have lasting impact.

Alex’s extensive network in the planning and development industry means that he can bring people together to achieve otherwise difficult wins.  He quickly gains the trust of clients, colleagues and decision makers.
