Getting Busy Planning for Regional Growth

If the COVID-19 pandemic has taught us anything it is that Australians value space and room to grow.  For the years 2020/21, the Centre for Population reported a net shift in migration away from capital cities in favour of regional areas, bucking the previous trend of migration to cities.

Recognising their natural assets and unique characteristics, the Coorong District Council and District Council of Loxton Waikerie have begun preparing Growth Strategies.

Testing different growth scenarios and identifying enablers/constraints to supporting population and employment growth, these Strategies will provide clear vision for the next 25-years.  They will enable smart decision making and coordinated investment by the Councils and others.

A separate benefit of these Strategies are their links to the upcoming Regional Planning project.  They will put both Councils on the front-foot advocating for the most effective planning policy.

A true strategic planning exercise, URPS is excited to be working with both Councils and using our planning expertise to help deliver these region-defining projects.
